Personal and Business Coaching
Coaches have worked successfully with individuals from all walks of life, including professional athletes, business executives, and "ordinary" people who want to realize their potential for the extraordinary.
Coaching is for those who are:
1. Already successful and want to reach their full ability
2. Derailed by downsizing, toxic work environments, and personal problems
3. In search of a mentor to find and realize personal passions
Coaching works because it addresses the obstacles -usually repetitive mental models- that prevents us from constructively utilizing all of our resources or acquiring new skills. Using breaking-through, out-of-the-box thinking, a coach can address procrastination and self-doubt and strengthen the capacity to stay focused. Greater productivity and the financial and personal rewards that follow make coaching a good investment.
As a mentor, manager, and leadership consultant for over 20 years, I have offered the interpersonal skills that are a necessary accompaniment to intelligence and business savvy. These include:
-Conflict resolution and stress reduction/emotional intelligence enhancement
-Active listening and collaborative conversation training
Don't go at it alone - I work collaboratively with individuals, staff and family businesses to:
-Assess and provide feedback on areas of professional or personal impasse.
-Develop a strategic action plan and provide follow-up to prevent backsliding.
I would be happy to talk with you about an individual coaching plan for yourself or your business. Please feel free to pass this information on to others who you think my benefit from coaching.

Dissertation Coaching
Doing a dissertation need not be a lonely, tortuous process. A coach who has been down the "dissertation road" many times before can help to navigate the twists, turns, and potholes along the way.
Dissertation coaching is for those who
1. have already chosen a research question and want to maximize their efforts without incurring delays.
2. are in search of a question that is of personal interest and can be completed in a reasonable time frame.
3. have been derailed by the enormity of the task, a toxic faculty/student atmosphere, or personal problems.
Coaching works because it addresses the repetitive mental models that prevent us from utilizing our resources. Using innovative problem-solving approaches and the power of having someone working consistently with you and on your side, a coach can address the procrastination, self-doubt, and lack of focus/follow-through that are often byproducts of the dissertation process.
As a doctoral faculty member for 15 years, I mentored and served as a committee member for dissertation in the area of clinical, child-clinical/school, and counseling psychology as well as marriage and family therapy. (The very first thesis I mentored earned the New Jersey Psychological Association's award for best dissertation of the year!)
As a coach, I can:
- assess/give feedback on proposal (or help to develop one).
- monitor your progress to prevent backsliding
- address obstacles (i.e. writers' block, inertia) impeding the successful and timely completion of your thesis
Don't go at it alone! Call now for a consultation. (Coaching may be done in-person, by phone, or on-line.)
Please feel free to pass this information on to a colleague who could benefit from dissertation coaching.
P.S. if you are not a doctoral candidate, but are feeling stuck or dissatisfied with your work or performance, coaching may be for you.

Private Practice Coaching
Developing and sustaining a professional practice has become an increasingly complex task. Many of the skills necessary to be successful are not taught in graduate school.
Private Practice Coaching allows new practitioners and those wishing to inject new life into their practice the opportunity to remove the obstacles that prevent then from having a successful professional career and earning a satisfying living.
Coaching includes assistance in establishing referral networks, identifying specialty practice niches, and developing and sustaining tasteful, and professional marketing strategies. Coaching may include the dos and don'ts of setting up an office, maintaining records, adhering to professional, legal, and ethical standards, working with managed care, etc.
Coaching allows individuals or groups of practitioners the chance to ask the kinds of questions which they have either felt embarrassed to ask or had no one to whom they felt they could pose such questions. The coaching atmosphere is supportive and not critical. Not asking the questions that require answers usually causes a blockage in one's progressive move forward.
Coaching may include how to set up a practice that is managed care free. My experience in practice for over 20 years allows me to be privy to information and experiences that are not taught in graduate school and not usually shared between colleagues.
In this time of increasingly complexity in our professional arena, don't go at it alone.
